Random & Low Stats

By Felipe Lohan Pinheiro da Silva

¿ And what about the systems that use random rolls to generate stats (and some that don’t, instead using points to buy them)? When someone gets a very low roll (or is mislead get a very low value in a system that use points to buy), someone says “Think about the role-playing possibilities.”. ¿ Did you said “Role-playing possibilities”? ¡ No, thank you! Average and above-average people have enough problems and “role-playing possibilities”. These “role-playing possibilities” are just excuses from grognards who are dating Sᴊ̇Ws. Like the bullshit of “check your white heterosexual male privilege”, there is the bullshit of “check you high stats privilege”, or worst: “check your AVERAGE STATS privilege”.

Try to take a mentally disabled pal and a tetraplegic pal to a night in a dungeon, for the sake of the so-called “social inclusion”. You will get a TPK (everyone will get their skulls smashed by a morningstar) before the sunrise. Grognards should know that better than anyone, but actually them don’t.

OK, so sue me by my “discrimination” against the “low stats” minorities. İt’s not my fault if your rogue is so incompetent that he can’t even sneak behind a dumb monster who are sleeping. ¡ Ah, and don’t forget: when that monster grab his neck, think about the role-playing possibilities!

Needless to say, role-plating possibilities don’t help anyone to get out alive from the dungeon.

Charisma don’t help you to smash skulls, unless a silly GM said so. No wonder it’s a dump stat for many dungeon crawlers. ¿ As long as you come back from the dungeon w/ the bags full of gold/jewels, what whore or tavern owner will care about your charisma?
