William Hope Hodgson (1877-1918), English bodybuilder and photographer, killed in the battle of Ypres (Belgium) in the First World War, is more famous due to his works of speculative ƒіction. Although he was the son of an Anglican cleric, his works bear similarities to the Spiritist doctrine.

İn the second installment of the «Silver Key» series, «Through The Gates Of The Silver Key» (by Edgar Hoffmann Price & Lovecraft), Yog-Sothoth (god of the space-time) explains to Randolph Carter (the protagonist) that each incarnation of a given person is a mere «slice», or facet, of his full spirit. Also, Yog-Sothoth alludes to the reincarnation of a given spirit in different planets across the Cosmos.
